Welcome to Roswell...
Lets begin where I said I would...
As I was walking Highway 70 from Ruidoso, New Mexico, to Roswell, I happened upon a group of people riding horses.
As I got closer, I saw two four wheelers, and three riders.
I watched as the horses crossed the highway and Whoomp! one of the horses lost its footing and down it went!
But all was well and both rider and horse were ok. Walking up, a lady on one of the four wheelers asked me if I was hungry. I said I was and she invited me up the hill to enjoy a hotdog.
Once I got to the top...
I saw horses and trucks and horse trailers and a whole host of folks enjoying themselves.
Getting nervous, I followed the other two ladies on the second four wheeler, and made our way to the house.
The view was wonderful, and the folks were just as great. I walked up the stairs to the deck, and heard dance music.
At the top of the deck I met the owner of the house, and she invited me to get some hot dogs, and salad.
It was a great trail ride party, and one they have every year.
I made my way around and met some of the people. Just a happy group and I was equally as happy to join them.
The party lasted through the night, and I watched others as they danced and I danced one time, forgetting that I was not a dancer and my moves were rusty...
But all in all I had a ton of fun.
They allowed me to spend the night and in the morning I got a ride to Roswell, New Mexico.
That was a wonderful experience, and I really hope that on my travels, I will be able to meet up with that wonderful family again!
The only pic that I have is of my friends new baby girl...
Here is Mia Volkmann, (off to the right) just a few days old when the picture was taken...
